TECH TIPS
* Check to make sure that all cables are secure and plugged in properly to the correct socket or jack.
* Make sure that Anti-Virus definitions are up to date and have completed a full hard-disk scan within 7 days.
* Protect your computer from electrical brownouts, blackouts, etc. by using a battery backups instead of a surge protector.
* Delete your Cookies and Temporary internet files files using the Disk Cleanup tool below the system tools folder.
* Always assign a password to your machine and hardware devices to prevent unauthorized usage by unwanted or prying eyes.
* Prevent unwanted pop-ups by managing your own cookies in your web browser. (Block ad servers)
* When setting up your wireless router/hardware use some form of encryption. Preferably 128 bit encryption.
* Configure antivirus and anti-spyware scans to run on a scheduled basis for optimal performance from your PC.
* Read all Pop-ups before closing them, some may permission to install unwanted software such as spyware.
* Never give out your Password online. Most companies will reset the password for you.
* Use a firewall to prevent unwanted intruders from hacking into your PC. Hardware and software combinations work well.
* When buying hardware always do your research and check the length of the manufacturers warranty.
* USB thumbdrives are a great place to backup your Quickbooks files to.
* Defragment often to keep system running at peak performance. Fragmented drives have a higher seek time.
* Make sure that computer has proper ventilation to prevent CPU from overheating and causing system erratic system behavior.
* Use a seperate email account like YAHOO when you need to give out your email address online.
* Do not open any attachments unless you know the sender or are expecting to recieve an attachment.
